Absolutely, please click on this link to read our Terms and Conditions!

We work from South Africa and we have the knowledge of travelling on a regular basis through the countries we offer.

We know our local suppliers and partners, and we also have a local agent in Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique keeping an eye on you during the trip.

We are 24/7 available, from the first contact till you are back home safe after a great African adventure.

You can contact us by e-mail, by phone, by a WhatsApp message, via Facebook & Instagram and if you would like to e-meet us, we will happily plan a Zoom to get to know each other!

You just made the best decision! What we will do, is have a little meeting with you (by e-mail, WhatsApp, a phone call or a Zoom-meeting) and we will explain the process.

As soon as we understand your travel wishes, we will start creating a proposal. If you like it, we continue to make the booking and confirm. If you have doubts or suggestions yourself, we happily keep creating until you are satisfied!

A tailor-made package means we make the trip how you would like to travel. All your travel wishes combined with our local knowledge makes it the best suitable itinerary for you.

If you would like to go overland in a 4×4 or stay in luxury lodges, your wish is our command!

Because we make a trip tailor-made based on your travel wishes and budget, it completely depends on the country you would like to travel and in what season, the type of transport, the level of accommodations and what kind of activities.

For every budget there is a way to go!

We like to include as much as we can and as much as you like in the total amount!

Again, for every budget there is a way-to-go and we will always discuss that with you.

Yes, you can!

We also offer ‘standard’ packages as a 3-day, 4-day or 5-day trip. Please ask us about it and we are happy to explain the different possibilities.

No, we don’t offer group tours with ‘strangers’.

We only offer group tours when it is:

  • a family together
  • a group of friends
  • an incentive group

That is completely up to you!

We offer self-drive tours where you drive yourself, or we have a private guide for you who guides you during the whole trip.

A great advantage of travelling with a guide : he knows the route, the best places, hidden treasures and safety protocols. You can sit back, relax and enjoy the holiday to the fullest.

The countries we offer are always marked as ‘yellow-coloured’ travel advice. This means that travel is allowed, but also that it is important to pay attention to safety risks.

We make the safety of our travellers high priority and we always keep monitoring the local situation. We will never send travellers to unsafe locations and because we know the countries so well, we know the best routes to travel.

During a trip we also have an emergency number which is 24/7 available in case you need help.

Besides the above, it makes sense not to walk down the streets in dodgy areas you don’t know, avoid visits to townships on your own (unless with a local guide) and show respect for the locals where you are.

Down to Africa and our local partners and suppliers have a great knowledge of what to do in a emergency situation.

We also have a 24/7 emergency number.

You can always contact us for a trip and advice.

For high season bookings as Christmas and other school holidays we advise not to wait and get in touch with us as soon as possible. The availability of accommodations and transport are important to keep an eye on and you have the best choice when it is booked in advance. We recommend therefore to book a trip at least six months to a year in advance.

But, there is always a plan to be made last-minute. We need a little bit of flexibility then from you.

You are welcome to browse our Destinations pages to learn more about the best time to travel to each country. We also know where the rain season is and when, so we will always be honest with you to explain the best travel times.

We are happy to give advice about the best possible flight options and routes to your favourite destination.

In that way we can match the flight to your itinerary. Most of the travellers prefer to book the flights themselves and we support that.

Yes, of course!

We have a good look at the route and itinerary and advise on type of transport and we will book the domestic flights when necessary.

Yebo, yes!

Down to Africa is in association with SATSA which stands for Southern Africa Tourism Services Association.

We adhere to a strict code of conduct and we are required to submit documentation of our business annually. SATSA recognises and checks every year to ensure we are a healthy business.

So we are proud to be able to share a partnership with SATSA, and with us being a member it makes sure we have third-party indemnity, all our insurances and ensure financial relationships.

Also good to know...

Payments

When you want to book the trip, we will create an invoice and we ask a pre-payment of 50% of the total amount.

With this pre-payment we confirm the trip.

And then 8 weeks before departure we ask the rest of the amount. The only thing you need to do then, is getting ready!

Visa requirements

For every country are different visa regulations and we will have to know first where you are coming from to give the best advice.

We also supply the important travel documentation before departure.

Vaccinations

Unfortunately we are not entitled to give medical advice.

It depends on every destination and every person what a doctor should advise.

The only advise we can give you is to discuss this with your local GP or a Travel Clinic in your area.

Travel insurance

When you want to book the trip, we always advise to have a travel insurance.

Every country has good insurance companies, so the best advice is to compare and see what insurance suits you best. We don’t sell travel insurance.

We always recommend cancellation insurance too.

And here are some STRANGE questions that we have been asked over the years..... we will answer them for you !

Absolutely, I will have a word with Mother Nature right away!

Sure, some of the best diving can be done on the mainland! With no oceans and no sharks… We get right on organizing that for you.

In the wild?….. Let me just stand way back and get the doctor on the phone and my camera ready before you start!

I’m no expert but I believe on a piece of paper with crayons, you do realise it is a Disney movie right??

I gave them permission to do so, I was tired of pushing them over myself!

We offer personalized service, I go out early and arrange all the smaller creatures to get eaten by the bigger animals at a time of your choosing, they seem happy with this deal (except the smaller ones).

Of course I can do that, would you like me to also draw you a GPS route for the 29, 643 ATM’S in South Africa… Let me start on that right away.

Yes, can we call you Mr and Mrs ‘Meals on Wheels’ from now on?

Of course, they actually all stand on there tippy toes hiding behind the trees just to jump out and shout “boo!”…. they eat grass (facepalm).
